“Friends of
Josh”
As you know David and Sue
Roark’s son Josh was in an accident and after weeks of
amazing care in the burn units of Miami Valley Hospital and
Shriners Burn Hospital in Cincinnati he is coming home
today. He will still have up to a year in recovery and
therapy at home. Your prayers, cards and letters of support
continue to let Josh know everyone is pulling for him to
have a complete recovery.
Prior to the accident Josh,
his father David, and grandfather Virgil had started
renovating a house in the Brookville area that was to be an
equally shared investment. Josh was excited working along
with his father and grandfather and at the age of sixteen
learning to invest in his future.
In looking for ways for him
to stay focused on the future and his recovery, David and
Virgil believe this house can be a positive goal for Josh
and have given their share of the house over to Josh. While
David and his entire family have and will spend many hours
with Josh’s care, an “opportunity” exists for friends and
family to help. Offering to donate your labor and expertise
to help David, Virgil, and Josh finish the work renovating
the house is proposed as a project that Josh can grab hold
of and oversee.
The family will not except
any money and will supply all of the necessary supplies. For
the most part, the volunteer labor will be weekends only and
as soon as we see who is available, a schedule can be put
out. Many of Josh’s friends from church and school will be
available to help with this effort. I have offered to help
David and Virgil coordinate the volunteer labor for the
project. Josh, David and Virgil will make any and all
decisions as to the actual work.
If you would like to donate
some of your time or expertise to help with this project
please email me and include a contact phone number, the area
you can help in, along with your email address. The first
workday will be 09/20/2008 involving framing, roof patching,
and some demo. Needed next will be to have the electrical
scoped out and a print made for getting materials. The same
will be needed for the ductwork and HVAC.
Thanks Scott

Dave Roark is
a long time Metro Dayton Chapter of BNI member and we all
felt like helping so on October 18th several of us went
there to pitch in. Several others will continue on
subsequent Saturdays.
